Wellness Across the State

MHAC focuses on statewide development by building networks and affiliate offices across the state.  The state of Colorado is very diverse.  What is happening in the urban, metropolitan areas is not the same for the suburban or frontier regions of the state.  We need to hear the voices of ALL Coloradans to make informed, strategic decisions at the Capitol.  Our affiliate offices help us gain a broader picture of what is happening across the state and regionally.

Contact us if you are interested in starting to build an affiliate in your area.

Mental Health America of Colorado - Summit County
Mental Health America of Colorado - Summit County is active and dedicated toward the advancement of mental health awareness in Summit County. Our membership includes any member of the community who is interested in learning about mental health and advocating for better mental health in our county.

One of our programs consists of providing pro bono psychotherapy in the Summit County Jail. This program has been very successful at creating positive change in lives. Participants learn how to communicate their thoughts and feelings in emotionally meaningful ways. They learn how to work out conflicts with words rather than actions. Many of the participants are only able to participate for a short time however, they are introduced to the idea that they can think differently about their lives and that mental health treatment can be a positive source of growth and development for them. In addition to providing this therapy in the jail setting MHAC of Summit County works to provide inmates with basic needs after their release, helping them transition back into the community or treatment facility.

Mental Health America of Colorado - Summit County meets every other month in the Frisco Community Center. We heartily welcome any one to drop in. If you are interested in more information about us, exact meeting times or anything else please call William Elsass at 970-485-5369.
